Romeo × Juliet Review and Daily New Anime Releases

Well I finally forced myself to sit down and watch all the episodes to date for Romeo × Juliet and this is not your high school play or is it even remotely close to the original work by Mr. Shakespeare. This is a new slant on the old tale with flying Pegasus, maniacal evil grand dukes and some kind of weird overgrown tree with wings.

The story starts out as the duke of Montague family decides he wants to rule alone and slaughters the Capulet family. However one manages to escape the daughter of the duke, Juliet. Flash forward 14 years and Juliet has become a super hero of sorts dashing around as a kind of robin hood type figure helping to right wrongs of the duke as he tramples his people beneath his feet. One day after helping a girl accused of being a surviving daughter of the Capulets she is is cornered. A young man named Romeo sees the distress and swoops in to rescue her and her maid. However they believe the red whirlwind is a man and everyone calls him Odin. While offering little gratitude for the rescue she runs away.

Odin (Juliet) who lives with William Shakespeare in hiding. Is set for her 16th birthday when she will learn the truth of her family and her birth right and destiny. However unprepared she is for it wont change the fact that it is her destiny even after a chance encounter at the royal ball she mistakenly attends dressed as Juliet instead of a man. She meets Romeo and it is love at first sight for both.

After that first encounter many more follow but once Juliet learns of the truth of her family and Romeo is the son of the duke who slaughtered them can she overcome that and find happiness in love? Watch and find out.

OK so after watching it I have to say it was worth it. I really got into the story although not close to the original it is very engaging and interesting. You get pulled right in. If the title scared you away like it did me don't worry you wont be disappointed.
